NASA reported that station commander Jessica Meir configured the Nikon Experimentation Microscope in Orbit, installed tissue samples and checked the system that controls sample carbon-dioxide levels. NEMO is designed to automate imaging of growing cells so researchers can study microgravity's effects on disease, tissue development and drug responses.
The crew also stowed hardware from crystal-growth work in the Microgravity Science Glovebox and tested radio communications equipment used with spacesuits. NASA says the crystal studies may inform semiconductor manufacturing, but the update describes daily operations and research setup rather than a completed scientific result.
