NASA opened a call on September 8 for technologies that could support exploration and a future base near the Moon’s south pole. The NextSTEP-3 Appendix A solicitation covers vertical solar arrays, oxygen extraction from lunar regolith, radioisotope Stirling generators, in-space manufacturing and nanomaterials production.
The agency is seeking proposals from industry, academic institutions and nonprofit organizations, with international partners able to participate through US-led teams. This is a technology-development opportunity, not an announcement that these systems have been deployed on the Moon.
