US antitrust officials ask how Nvidia’s Hugging Face deal could shape AI

Officials have asked whether ownership of the open-source platform could give Nvidia control over an important distribution point or leverage over rivals, according to two people familiar with the matter. Nvidia has said Hugging Face would continue working with multiple chip, cloud and AI providers.

The questions form part of a broader examination of Nvidia’s acquisitions, investments and sales practices. An inquiry does not establish wrongdoing, and Reuters reported that it may not lead to legal action.
