Reuters reported that Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb raised possible US Exim financing for Boeing aircraft during broader talks that also covered refinery upgrades and the Reko Diq mining project. Adviser Khurram Schehzad said the government was helping PIA reach financing sources and suppliers.

Schehzad stressed that Pakistan had not announced an aircraft purchase, taxpayer-funded loan or automatic sovereign guarantee. US Exim could instead secure financing against the aircraft and evaluate the creditworthiness of the airline or lessee.
