Samsung Electronics estimated operating profit of 107.4 trillion won ($80.17 billion) for the July–September quarter, slightly above an LSEG SmartEstimate of 106.1 trillion won. It also projected revenue of 195 trillion won, up 127% from a year earlier, and plans to publish detailed results on October 29.

Memory is expected to supply most of the improvement as demand for high-bandwidth memory, conventional DRAM and NAND outruns supply. The boom is not uniform across Samsung: analysts estimated that its mobile division lost more than $1 billion in the quarter, while its foundry business remained loss-making.
